"Waterless Aquarium" Comes to Stark County (Canton, Ohio)

During the summer of 2009, hundreds of kids across Stark County will participate in water conservation workshops hosted by ArtsinStark, the County Arts Council, and sponsored by the Herbert W. Hoover Foundation. These workshops will culminate with the unveiling of the Waterless Aquarium at the monthly First Friday celebration on September 4. More than 100 fish made out of recycled materials --- permanent, big ones made by professional artists, and temporary, small ones made by kids out of plastic bottles --- will cover the Kresge greenspace in the Cantons new Arts District. The message: Dont teach your trash to swim. The permanent sculptures will become part of the ever-growing public art collection in the Arts District. www.artsinstark.com
